In 2008, the Trustees decided to institute the David Riches Postgraduate Medal. This is an award for the best postgraduate research student essay, to be based on a chapter of a PhD thesis and is awarded on a competitive basis. The entries are judged by an External Assessor. The Holy Trust donates £1000 towards the prize, and another £100 is provided by the Riches family. The prize has been awarded since 2009 and a certificate is sent to the winning candidate/s with a cheque and letter from Katherine Holy.
